Kintsugi, the art of repairing with gold
Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese technique in which broken ceramics are not hidden but repaired in a way that makes the cracks visible — highlighted with gold. The method originated in the 15th century, when Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa had his favorite tea bowl repaired. Instead of disguising the fractures, they were filled with lacquer and gold, making the object even more beautiful than before.
